The only update that I had at that point was for the adobe flash player and it seems like only games from between the end of the 90s and mid 2000s are affected and only those with an intro video, since GTA san andreas is the only of the GTA 3 series games that doesn't have any intro video and also the only one still working.The Grand Theft Auto series has always been about taking the good with the bad. I don't think it has anything to do with windows 7. I guess some older games just stop working in Windows 7. TES: Oblivion also doesn't play the game when you select the option from the game's launcher but a relatively newer game like Sleeping Dogs does work. I tried doing this and it doesn't seem to fix it. You won't be able to actually save the recommended settings and make them work the game will CTD at launch once more after the troubleshooting wizard ends. Click Try recommended settings to run the game. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto 3, right click on gta3.exe and click troubleshoot compatibility. Anyway so this has to be the most intellectually disabled fix ever but I fixed it. I recommend you upgrade to 8.1 before 2020. Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't fix it either.This is happening with Vice City as well. I pretty much have to restart my computer at this point. I'll go into task manager and end the process tree for the game but I also get Steam browser error codes 118 and 105. Steam shows that the game has launched, as evidenced by the " playing." profile text in green, but the game's exe file doesn't redirect you to the game. I did a google search and apparently this bug will happen with newer games as well. =/ĮDIT: Verifying the game's cache through Steam doesn't fix this. What I don't get is why it's happening now - I put 60 hours into the game on Steam, owned it for the past 6 to 7 years, but for the past week it's been unplayable. ![]() Does your CPU usage go to 100% as well?
